Job Description Administrative Director of Laboratory Services Gettysburg Hospital About the Position Plans, directs and supervises all administrative aspects of the Laboratory operations and its affiliated programs. Accountable for the quality and efficiency of the department’s operations. The qualified candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties: Maintains the department in accordance with standards established by the Hospital, accreditation agencies and with local, state and federal standards which may apply. Recommends equipment modification, new equipment and essential construction within the department. Maintains existing equipment and contractual services as may be required. Administers the department’s performance improvement programs along with the department’s Medical Director and leadership staff. Ensures all patients are properly served by the department based on standard performance measures, processes and tools. Administers preparation of reports, documents, payroll, statistical surveys and other data required. Responsible for acquiring, collecting, analyzing and managing statistical data related to the department’s services. Maintains the department’s customer relations program in accordance with Hospital-wide philosophy. Initiates marketing and public relations actions as appropriate. Monitors reimbursement and patient billing systems to ensure financial viability of departmental services. Acts as a clinical resource by reviewing billing exceptions. Coordinates corrective action for medical necessity, reimbursement and documentation issues. Maintains knowledge of compliance regulations for federal, state and private payers. Manages Laboratory information system database as well as related databases of Hospital and Financial systems. Manages data integration and interfaces, clinical processes and electronic health information development in cooperation with appropriate interdepartmental staff. Manages system testing and validation as needed for LIS and associated systems. Ensures proper staff training of information management systems and associated processes.
