II. Position Activities A. Duties and Responsibilities Perform restoration procedures to prevent impending call processing outages Provide service order assistance on an as-required basis for the Class 5 switch e.g., DMS, 5ESS or EWSD and/or all collo equipment (DSLAM, DACS, muxes, etc.) Refer alarms that are not easily or immediately resolvable either to a 2nd level technical support or to the switch vendor in conjunction with the NOC Receive notification regarding standing alarms and alarms that may be caused by any planned or emergency maintenance Track any maintenance activities to monitor their status and ensure that any alarms generated are properly dealt with Performing and maintaining any Network Element Database backup. Install, test, maintain and trouble shoot carrier circuits. Install, maintain and troubleshoot Network equipment such as Cisco routers and switches, DCS’s, DC fuse panels, DSX 1, DACS, muxes, and DSX 3 panels. Perform PM inspections of all network support or backup equipment like Generator, UPS, Fire Suppression system and HVAC systems Responsible for general maintenance on the Class 5 Switches (DMS, 5ESS or EWSD) and/or collo equipment including but not limited to: answering all alarms, testing of failures, weekly tape back-ups, changing of air filters, testing and replacing circuit packs, sending circuit packs for repair, putting trunks into service for new customers and growth and expansion Maintain a clean working environment. Installation, termination and testing of Integrated Access Devices (IADs) and DSL Devices from Netopia, Vina, Adtran, etc. Perform T1 and Cooper loop qualification test from customer’s demarc, utilizing company supplied software and test sets. Install and test network components such as routers, hubs, CSU\DSU, DDS etc. that support our customer needs. Ability to identify customer’s network configuration problems. Provide support to the Field Service Technicians for PTDs as required. Update and maintain the Spare Tracking and Preventative Maintenance systems as assigned. Serve as a mentor and trainer to the Central Office Technician I. Responsible for all tools and test equipment provided by the company. All equipment must be kept in clean and working order. Responsible for cleaning and keeping in wearable condition all Company uniforms, as well as looking presentable for all customers. Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean driving record and must have a valid driver’s license. Any other assignments as required B.
